Imogen Brownlee, Young Citizen of the Year

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Congratulations to 16-year-old Imogen Brownlee, who has been named Maitland's Young Citizen of the Year for her exceptional contributions to our community through her involvement in cricket and netball. Imogen has demonstrated remarkable dedication as a coach, player, and umpire, particularly with the City United District Cricket Club's Blasters program and the Thornton Netball Club. Her commitment to developing young athletes is evident in her hands-on approach, where she not only imparts technical skills but also fosters a love for the game among participants. Beyond her coaching roles, Imogen has taken on leadership responsibilities by mentoring young umpires, promoting teamwork, and encouraging active participation in sports, especially among young girls. Her efforts have been instrumental in growing junior cricket and enhancing youth engagement in sports within our community. Her nominator, Kristy Brownlee, aptly stated, "Imogen epitomises the values of what it means to be the Young Citizen of the Year. Through her unwavering dedication, selflessness, and positive impact on the Maitland community, she consistently demonstrates leadership, responsibility, and service." Congratulations to Imogen Brownlee on this well-deserved recognition. Our community is enriched by her passion and dedication to fostering youth development through sports.
