Convoy Newcastle
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Roads, and Minister for Regional Transport)—I want to recognise and congratulate the organiser and participants that took part in the recent Camp Quality Convoy in Maitland. Over 200 trucks drove through supporter lined streets as a powerful symbol of hope and solidarity for families facing childhood cancer. As I watched these magnificent vehicles parade in the Maitland Showground, many adorned with decorations and messages of support, I was deeply moved by what it represented. Each truck carried not just it's load, but the weight of our collective promise to these brave children: you are not alone. Our trucking industry has always been the backbone of our economy, but on this day, they showed they're also the backbone of our community spirit. These hardworking men and women raised $190,000 that will provide specialised camps, family support programs and educational initiatives for kids and families facing cancer. The Camp Quality convoy reminds us that together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our most vulnerable children and I thank all the organisers and sponsors of the event. Congratulations and I look forward to seeing Convoy back in Maitland in 2026!
