Community Recognition Notice - Hunter Safety Awards : Maitland

21 June 2022

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland)—I congratulate the Maitland businesses who tasted success at the sixth annual Hunter Safety Awards, which were announced on 12 May. The ceremony, returning after a COVID-enforced hiatus in 2021, recognised leading WHS professionals and industries across a range of health, safety and wellbeing categories. With so many outstanding entrants, I am sure the judges were hard-pressed to select the winners. But, I'm delighted to say Maitland businesses did very well, taking out the top two gongs. Fenech Demolition walked away with the WHS Business of the Year honour. A second generation, family-run enterprise, established in 2008, it is proudly 100% indigenously owned and operated. It was also named Best WHS Management System (SME). RedInsight director/principal consultant Monica Toews Brown then captured the prestigious WHS Champion of the Year award. Another winner on the night was Rutherford's Warner Company, securing the Best WHS Improvement (SME) crown. I would like to acknowledge and thank Hunter Safety Awards Founder and Judge, Sarah Jane Dunford for ensuring that WHS professionals who are leading the way in workplace safety are recognised in the Hunter.
