30th Anniversary of the Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—On 6 September, 2024 the Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils will proudly be celebrating their 30th Anniversary. It was on August 6, 1994, where the 8 Member Councils initially came together in their first full Board meeting, establishing the first Regional Organisation of Councils in country NSW. Together, the Member Councils of: Bland Shire, Coolamon Shire, Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional, Goldenfields Water County, Greater Hume Shire, Junee Shire, Lockhart Shire and Temora Shire provide a strong voice for communities they represent. In addition to their advocacy activities, this regional collaboration has delivered benefits for their communities as diverse as youth leadership programs, streetlighting initiatives and economies of scale from aggregated procurements. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend and enjoy the warm hospitality in Wagga Wagga where this significant milestone anniversary will be celebrated and I send my best wishes to them today. Thank you to Chairman Cr Rick Firman OAM and everyone involved in the REROC and for their contribution. Three decades of passion and commitment to such an important and worthwhile group of Councils is a testament to this successful collaboration.
