Media Release - Entries now open for 2019 Community Building Partnership grants program

03 September 2019

Member for Maitland Jenny Aitchison MP is encouraging eligible community organisations to apply for a share in the $300,000 available to the Maitland electorate through the 2019 Community Building Partnership grants program.
Applications for the 2019 round of grants opened at 9am on Monday, 2 September and will close at 5pm sharp on Friday, 27 September.
Incorporated not-for-profit community organisations and local councils are eligible to apply for grants of between $2500 and $300,000.
“This is a fantastic program that leverages off infrastructure investment to deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes,” Ms Aitchison said.
Now in its 10th year, the Community Building Partnership grants program has distributed over $300 million to more than 13,800 projects spearheaded by incorporated not-for-profit community organisations and local councils.
Ms Aitchison said that the Maitland community had benefited heavily from the program throughout the past decade.
“In the 2018 round, Maitland projects attracted $330,000. This went to a host of worthy recipients – Maitland Rugby Union, Grossmann House and our PCYC, to name a few,” Ms Aitchison said.
In 2019, all eligible projects will be assessed against four equally weighted program criteria. These include:
  • Enhancing facilities – the enhancement or construction of community infrastructure develops a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive community;
  • Meeting community needs – the local community needs the activities and services the project supports;
  • Increasing community participation – will generate engagement with a broad section of the community; and
  • The organisation’s capacity – the applicant has the capacity to deliver the project on time and within scope.
