COVID-19 UPDATE 9 SEPTEMBER 2021
There were 1,405 new local cases in NSW.
1,175 in hospital.
202 in intensive care.
HNE Health have confirmed 12 new cases COVID-19 for the New England Health Area.
The 12 new cases take the total number in the current outbreak to 262. There are currently 123 active cases.
1 is from Cessnock LGA 1 in Heddon Greta Was infectious in community Linked to Upper Hunter mine
4 are from Port Stephens LGA 4 in Nelson Bay All 4 were infectious in community Unlinked. Investigations ongoing
4 are from Newcastle LGA 2 in Adamstown Heights Were isolating while infectious Linked to household contact 1 in North Lambton Was infectious in community Linked to a workplace 1 in Kotara Was infectious in community Unlinked. Investigations ongoing
3 is from Lake Macquarie LGA 1 in Catherine Hill Bay Was isolating while infectious Linked to household contact 1 in Dora Creek Was infectious in community Linked to a community member 1 in Woodrising Was infectious in community Unlinked. Investigations ongoing
9 of the total active cases people are currently being cared for in hospital. 1 is in ICU.
6 of the cases are linked. 9 were infectious in the community.
456 close contacts are in isolation.
The case reported from Heddon Greta initially reported as from the Maitland LGA has since been updated by HNE Health to be in the Cessnock LGA.
Late yesterday evening, the District was notified of a person who tested positive to COVID-19 in Narrabri.
This case will be confirmed in tomorrow’s case numbers.
This person is a QLD resident who recently visited Sydney before travelling to Narrabri, where they work.
They are now being cared for in Tamworth Hospital.
The case was infectious while in the community, so we are asking anyone in that community to come forward for testing even if they have very mild symptoms.
A drive-through COVID-19 testing facility has been set up at Narrabri Hospital commencing today. It will operate from 9am to 3.30pm and will continue into the weekend.
