COVID-19 UPDATE 12 OCTOBER 2021

  • There were 360 new local cases in NSW.

  • 766 in hospital.

  • 155 in intensive care.


The Statewide vaccination rates confirmed by NSW Health are:

  • 90.4% first dose

  • 74% second dose (fully vaccinated)


HNE Health have confirmed 47 new cases COVID-19 for the New England Health Area.

The 47 new cases take the total number in the current outbreak to 1,815. There are currently 1,102 active cases.


13 are from Maitland LGA - 6 in Woodberry - 2 in Telarah - 2 in Rutherford - 2 in Millers Forest - 1 in East Maitland 11 are from Lake Macquarie LGA - 3 in Bolton Point - 1 in Belmont South - 1 in Gateshead - 1 in Hillsborough - 1 in Macquarie Hills - 1 in Marks Point - 1 in Toronto - 1 in West Wallsend - 1 in Croudace Bay 9 are from Cessnock LGA - 7 in Weston - 2 in Bellbird 6 are from Newcastle LGA - 1 in Adamstown - 1 in Bar Beach - 1 in Cooks Hill - 1 in Hamilton South - 1 in Mayfield - 1 in New Lambton Heights 3 are from Port Stephens LGA - 3 in Raymond Terrace 3 are from MidCoast LGA - 3 in Taree 2 is from Tamworth Regional LGA - 1 in Tamworth - 1 in West Tamworth

  • 23 of the total active cases are currently being cared for in hospital. 4 are currently in ICU.

  • 31 are linked, 13 are unlinked, and 3 are still under investigation.

  • 18 were infectious in the community. 26 were isolating while infectious. 3 are still under investigation.
