Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland) (00:29:57):I pay tribute to Dorothy Morris, OAM, a much-loved Maitland-born-and-bred woman, who instilled a love of music in generations of students through her work as a singing coach and music teacher in Maitland.

Dorothy was the long-time musical director of Maitland Repertory Theatre, a member of the Uniting Church choir for 70 years, the choir's conductor for half a century and an accomplished performer in her own right. She sang at charity shows and aged care facilities, had her own singing group, In Accord, and still managed to make time for other volunteer work.

Dorothy, who passed away on 11 September at the age of 95, was married for almost 70 years to John Morris, OAM. Less than two months ago it was my solemn honour to commemorate John's passing and place on the parliamentary record my community's thanks for his lifelong contributions to Maitland.

I send condolences to Dorothy and John's children Louise and Stuart, and their three grandchildren, Hannah, Nicholas and Thomas, on the loss of their beloved matriarch and patriarch. Your loss is shared by everyone in Maitland.
