Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland)—When Mindaribba Pre-School opened its doors on Reconciliation Day in 1999, its mission was to give Aboriginal children the same pre-school opportunities as every other child. Mindaribba Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) created Mindaribba Pre-School to provide a place where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island children could learn, share and celebrate their culture – through dance, painting and language – in an inclusive environment with all children from our community.

Mindaribba Pre-School, its teachers, its graduates and current students have achieved amazing things over the past two decades, but I have been particularly impressed by their efforts to continue to engage with the students during COVID-19. "MindaTV" established an engaging, fun and educative space online to overcome the social isolation of COVID-19. Teaching director Marie De Sousa has played a key role in preparing the children for 'big' school. The school welcomes children from all families including non-Aboriginal children.

Due to the continuing hard work of Tara Dever, CEO of Mindaribba LALC, Marie and the rest of the team, the online 21st birthday celebrations were full of still cakes, cupcakes and plenty of smiles.

Congratulations on this significant milestone, and Happy Birthday!
