MEDIA RELEASE: Upgrade to East Maitland War Memorial Hall welcomed

Member for Maitland, Jenny Aitchison, today visited the East Maitland War Memorial Rest Park Trust to see their completed projects funded under the 2014 and 2015 Community Building Partnership program.

The NSW Community Building Partnership program supports the improvement of community infrastructure, and creates more vibrant and inclusive communities by supporting projects that encourage community participation, inclusion and cohesion.

Funding under the Community Building Partnership Program is open to local councils and incorporated not-for-profit bodies such as charities, sporting, social and environmental groups.

“I was very pleased that during the Centenary of Anzac funding of $8 890 was made available to provide some practical assistance to the East Maitland RSL Sub-Branch, making their hall more secure with the installation of crim safe.”

“The Sub-Branch was also successful in 2014, receiving funding of $4 166 to install air conditioning in the hall.”

“It is difficult for not-for-profit organisations to raise much needed funds to continue to provide support to our community and this program is just one avenue for groups to obtain some assistance.”

“CBP funds are granted across a broad range of community programs including several sporting facilities, pre-school and early education and other community facilities used by members of the community.”

Neil Cromarty, Chairman of the East Maitland War Memorial Trust said “We are so grateful for the funding support through the Community Building Partnership program and these upgrades allow us to continue to provide the support to the East Maitland community.”
