ANZACs commemorated in Maitland
Today the Maitland community came together for one of Australia’s most important commemorations – ANZAC Day.
It is a time to reflect not just on the Gallipoli legend but the entire First World War and the century of sacrifice of all those who have served our nation in times of peace and war. In the face of their trials, the perseverance, selflessness, courage and compassion of our troops has come to define our national identity.
I was privileged to attend the East Maitland Dawn Service and the Maitland Day Service to pay my respects and commemorate the sacrifices made by so many Australian men and women over the last century.
Hundreds gathered for the ANZAC Day march and dawn service at the cenotaph at East Maitland.
It was a beautiful ANZAC service at Maitland cenotaph. Inspiring speeches by Sergeant Bloffwitch, and Miss Maitland Jessica Allen.
