Applications open for the Local Sport Grant Program
Sporting groups in the Maitland electorate can now apply for the Local Sport Grant Program.
Sport and active recreation delivers many personal and community benefits including developing self-esteem, maintaining health and fitness, nurturing talented athletes and contributing to individual enjoyment of life.
Sport and active recreation can also contribute to a range of government priorities including tackling childhood obesity and building safer communities.
The Program aims to increase regular and on-going participation opportunities in sport and active recreation.
The NSW Government has allocated $50,000 for projects within the Maitland electorate and incorporated, not-for-profit sport clubs are eligible to apply.
Clubs can apply for grants in the following categories:
Sport Club development (up to $2,000);
Community Sport Events (up to $5,000);
Sport Access (up to $5,000); and
Facility Development and Capital Equipment (up to $25,000)
Applications close on Thursday, 11 February, 2016 and I would encourage all eligible sporting clubs to apply.
