Fighting domestic violence in Maitland
The Maitland community is coming together saying "enough is enough". We need to unite to say no to domestic violence. I congratulate Craig McGregor, president of the Maitland Business Chamber, Mark Jennings, chief executive officer of Jennings Print, Norm Burton of Maitland Toyota, Deepak Chand and the Fijian and Indian community for their generous efforts to help this cause. I congratulate the presidents of the various sporting teams—the Mustangs, The Blacks, Pickers, Magpies and Rams—for wrapping a white ribbon around Maitland in a united stand against domestic violence, raising funds for Carrie's Place and community awareness and embarking on an education program in their clubs. I offer my sincere congratulations to Joe Gollan and Bronwyn Bell and the rest of the team at Carrie's Place for organising The Big Gig, a variety night for Carrie's Place to be held within the next month. It will raise vital funds. I know through this collective approach our community is making a great difference. Maitland has many community minded and dedicated individuals, teams and businesses. We are a driving force for change. Thank you everyone.
