Fishing industry left at sea by Baird Government
This morning in my role as Shadow Minister for Small Business I joined with the Shadow Minister for Primary Industries, Mick Veitch MLC, the Shadow Minister for the Central Coast, David Harris MP, and the Member for the Entrance, David Mehan MP, to speak with concerned members of the Central Coast fishing industry who feel they are being ripped off by the Baird Governments controversial Business Adjustment Program.
Under the program local fishermen will be required to purchase extra shares to maintain their current fishing entitlement.
In the last few weeks we have seen the Liberals make some poor decisions for small businesses in NSW. Now we have this problematic process for the reissuing of fishing licences, in some cases at huge expense, which is causing concerns for many small businesses in the industry.
