312 - MINERALS HOUSE MAITLAND - JOBS RELOCATION

That this House:

1. Notes in the 2019-20 Budget, the Government revealed plans for 2,500 job cuts in the public sector.

2. Notes the Deputy Premier has refused to rule out that 200 staff who currently work at Minerals House in Maitland will be transferred to Newcastle in the next two years.

3. Notes the loss of these jobs would amount to over $90 million in lost economic activity in the Maitland community.

4. Thanks the Maitland Business Chamber for its advocacy to retain these jobs in the community.

5. Calls on the Government to keep all public sector jobs in Maitland and not to relocate them to Newcastle, the Central Coast or elsewhere.
