SIMON MORRIS

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Aberglasslyn local Simon Morris has defied the odds on numerous occasions. As a child, Simon was diagnosed with leukemia. Representatives of Camp Quality supported him and his family through the ordeal and his recovery. That support had a huge impact on Simon and he was determined to give back to the group. As an adult, Simon works with volunteer organisation Band Together Against Cancer to run charity events to raise funds for Camp Quality. In the Northern NSW Region which included Maitland, there are 510 families that Camp Quality are currently working with and supporting. This work can only happen with the funds raised by those charity events. To date, Simon has raised over $110,000 with further events planned in December. It is this sort of selfless, 'pay it forward' activity that makes such a difference to these devastated families with sick children. Well done, Simon!
